Upcoming changes to Climate Impact Corps

To better serve its members and communities, Climate Impact Corps will be making some changes for the 2024–25 program year.  

Instead of having members serving in four distinct roles — Community Forestry members, Home Energy members, Sustainability Project Coordinators and Community Stewardship Facilitators — next year, everyone will serve as Climate Impact Project Coordinators!  

This pivot will give sites more flexibility and members more ownership over their projects. Each site will develop a service plan that aligns with the Minnesota Climate Action Framework and addresses community needs. This means members may focus on a wider range of projects during a single service term.  

The changes will ensure member activities can be more responsive to their site’s specific needs, explains Dylan Kelly, the director of climate programs at Ampact. “Our data shows that Climate Impact Corps has the greatest impact when members’ service is tailored to the community being served,” he says. “The new structure allows members and site supervisors to develop a service plan based on unique, local needs while also supporting statewide climate goals.” 

New and returning members can expect Climate Impact Corps to continue doing what it does best – expanding tree canopy, lowering household energy burdens, and building more climate resilience. “We are excited to see our members and site partners get creative and implement impactful, community-engaged climate projects across Minnesota,” Kelly says.
